Platis Yialos means very long beach. And realy is a very long beach from the largest in Cyclades.Here also it used to be lots of potery workshops, and still today some are operating. On the top of the hill overlooking at the bay is the Monastery of "Vouno" with a magnificant view. Plati Yialos is very busy during the day and lots of visitors are coming to spend the day. |
Vathi used to be full of ceramics workshops. Today is a very atractive beach of Sifnos island and very long and nice. Is the less developed village of Sifnos if you think that road and electricity became available only few years ago. Vary safe sea for swimmers and boats with lots of rooms and hotels. |
Kastro is the most ancient village of Sifnos with an interesting museum. Is build like a castle with a few entrances to the village. Is build on the top of the hill and the houses are small and close to each other and is fantastic for its architecture. Walking on the small roads of Kastro you will be wondering how everything is squeezed here!! |
Kamares is the largest village by the sea and the official arrival port of Sifnos island. Is surrounded by very high and steep hills but have view to west and the sunset is beautiful. All the boats are sailing here and that is why Kamares seems to be busy all the time. |
Herronisos is the smallest village of Sifnos at the north tip of the island. The road is not 100% ready yet but soon will finish. On the road to Herronisos you can find "Troulaki" area with a beautiful view to the sea and Serifos. Is also a typical fishermans and potery workshop village. Few rooms and to rent and some restaurants will take care of you.Distance from apollonia is 13 kilometres. |
Faros is one of the nicest villages in Sifnos. Is a typical fishermans village, still unspoiled with lots of character. Access is very easy.Lots of restaurants and cafes will keep you busy all day and night. The sea is very good for swimming and with calm sea. Chrisopigi is just south of port of Faros and is the most pictures place of Sifnos.. She is famous and got her name by the "Monastery of Chrisopigi". At the beginig of June here is the most important festival of Sifnos and worth to be here.All are invited, all they must eat, drink and enjoy themselfs till morning. |
